Yuri Zhirkov

Yuri Zhirkov is a retired Russian professional footballer who was known for his ability to play as a left winger or left-back. He began his professional career with Russian club Dynamo Moscow, where he quickly established himself as one of the top players in the country. During his time with Dynamo Moscow, Zhirkov won several domestic titles, including two Russian Premier League titles, two Russian Cups, and a Russian Super Cup.

It was his performances with Dynamo Moscow that caught the attention of foreign clubs, and in 2009, Zhirkov made a move to the English Premier League club Chelsea. This was a major step in his career, as he became one of the few Russian players to play in the English top flight. At Chelsea, Zhirkov made a solid impact and was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Premier League in 2010 and the FA Cup in 2012. He was also awarded Chelsea Players' Player of the Year in 2010.

After three years with Chelsea, Zhirkov returned to Russia to join Anzhi Makhachkala. Though his time with Anzhi was disrupted by injuries, Zhirkov still managed to make a positive impact and helped the team finish second in the Russian Premier League in 2012-13.

On the international level, Zhirkov was a regular member of the Russian national team, earning over 80 caps and representing the team at major tournaments such as the 2008 and 2018 UEFA European Championships and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Throughout his career, Zhirkov was known for his technical ability, vision, and crossing skills. He was also recognized for his versatility, as he was able to play effectively both as a left-back and left-winger.
